Le terme idéolinguiste est l'équivalent français de "conlanger". Un idéolinguiste crée une langue spécifique, avec sa phonologie et sa grammaire, en plus du vocabulaire (même si celui-ci est complètement a posteriori) et ne se limite pas à la création de néologismes dans une langue naturelle. Un homme de lettre peut être tout à la fois écrivain (auteur de fictions littéraires ou de poésies) ET idéolinguiste.
