Ainsi, la grammaire française considère-t-elle comme verbes d'état, les verbes susceptibles d'être suivis d'un attribut plutôt qu'un complément d'objet (quelle qu'en soit la nature). Tous les autres étant appelés "[[Verbe d'action|verbes d'action]]", y compris des verbes comme "avoir", qui pourtant ne décrivent aucune action particulière. Raison pour laquelle le terme parfois rencontré : [http://sosgrammaire.voila.net/verbattif.html <font color=black>"attributif"</font>]peut paraître plus adéquat. En grammaire française, donc, un verbe ou une locution verbale d'état est suivi, en principe, d'un [[attribut]], celui-ci se rapportant soit au sujet (auquel cas, le verbe est toujours intransitif), soit au complément d'objet direct du verbe.<br />
